Why page-a-day books sell in December
A dated daily reader is unwrapped on the 25th and starts on January 1, so it goes to work within a week of being given. Most gifts don't have a start date.
We see it in our own numbers. December sales of 365 Days of Tao run about 3 times November's. If that's the gift you're after, the 2027 page-a-day shelf compares 12 of them, ours and other publishers'.
When to order
For standard delivery in the US and UK, order by about December 15. Amazon Prime usually stretches to the 22nd or 23rd, and carriers slip more in that last week than in any other.
After that, send a Kindle book. On Amazon's page for any Kindle edition there's a "Buy for others" button. You enter their email and pick a delivery date, and it arrives on the morning you choose. It works on December 24 at 11pm.
Write in it
Their name, the date, and one line about why this book. It takes a minute, and they'll still have it in 10 years. An inscribed book also can't be returned, which turns it from merchandise into a keepsake.
